For this week's yarn along, I'm actually posting more than one photo. As mentioned last week, I finished my Good Luck Cowl and love it. Love the color, the matte finish and how easily the yarn shows the pattern stitch. Since the pattern was done in a repeat of 10 stitches and I ended up using the size 8 needles (though it called for 5), I cast on 80 stitches instead of the recommended 100. I also only did 8 sets of pattern stitch instead of 10.
I'm still working on the Travel Shawl. In fact, I must not have paid attention to my rounds and ended up with more stitches than what was called for. 24 more stitches in fact. Sigh. I'm ripping out enough rows that will take me back to where I need to be.
So of course, I picked up another pattern! A very quick & easy knit: Malabrigo Neck Thingie (yes, that is the name!) In honor of Autumn, I chose a stash yarn, Malabrigo Worsted Merino in #176 Loro barranquero. (which seems to be named after a parrot!). The colors are very Fall-ish. I'm thinking a particular person in my family would like this (hello, Mom!).
Reading this week has consisted of the same as last week and skimming through a variety of cookbooks and herbal lotion/salve/hair books. You can see the titles in the above photo.

Oh your cowl is lovely, Ellen! I love that pattern.

Oooo....A neck thingy. Those colors are absolutely gorgeous. I think I need to see if there are instructions out there for crocheted cowls. I don't want to be the only one without when the the snow flies!

Greer - actually it's gray. I find that gray actually looks more purplish on the computer.

I thought it was a purple too. I love it! I just finished my first cowl and can't wait to cast on another.

Ellen,
Your finished cowl looks great; I also love the Neck Thingie in fall colors. I will be very well dressed this fall, thanks to you (baktu, other triangular shawl and now, this). Hope no one is too nervous about the Saturday SAT.
Love,
Mom
